A SERIES OF EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL SHOTS SHOW PEOPLE LISTENING TO MUSIC, CARS, SHOPPING CENTRES AND CLIPS OF LECTURES AND TED TALKS
You can’t escape music.
It’s nothing new; it has been around for centuries, and has evolved like another member of society.
It can take us away from our problems into our own little worlds and yet provide a soundtrack to our lives at any moment. It makes us sad, angry or happy. It can take you to another era. That in it self illustrates how powerful music can be on the human brain.
The effect is different to everybody. It can be merely background noise or all consuming. What makes one person excited can make another want to lose their ability to hear temporarily.
END OF INTRODUCTION
I’m going to look into the power of music on the brain by playing songs for volunteers who will in turn tell us what they’re thinking about during and after the song.
